The child. Myself as a child or a child I’m comforting? Sleeping can be difficult if you are a little worried, but beautiful tales and songs usually help even if the nightmares are luring around the corner.
You can't be safer than this. Rocking yourself and rocking the little one.

Long ago, as a classical singer, I worked with a singing cycle by Benjamin Britten who described the equivocal role of being the tender mother while at the same time being frustrated with the child who never falls asleep. By "Nightly" I chose to write my own kind of bedtime-story based on the experience I have today as a parent.
